Graduation Day at the seminary

May 20, 2016, was our graduation service. President Paul Wendland based his sermon on the class passage, 1 Corinthians 4:1,2, “This, then, is how you ought to regard us: as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the mysteries  God has revealed. Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.”

He encouraged them: “To be counted as a servant of Christ, there is no higher aspiration. As servants of Christ, therefore, I encourage you be faithful to your Lord and be faithful to your calling.” Then he described faithfulness: “Faithfulness looks a lot like Jesus.”

This year, 32 seniors received their MDiv diplomas. In addition, two men received STM degrees: Joel Nitz, who serves at Messiah, Olympia, Wash., and Earle Treptow, who recently joined the faculty at the seminary. One student, Benjamin Zietlow, was unable to attend the service. His wife went into labor and they were at the hospital for the birth of their first baby.
