Lutheran Preaching
Instructor: Paul Wendland
Description:
A study of our preaching by studying Luther's preaching. At the heart of the course we will discuss the question (and it is a dialogue not a monologue): is there such a thing as a Lutheran identity in preaching? Are there Lutheran basics to how a preacher sees himself and his task? Sub-topics for discussion include: the preacher as God’s voice; the preacher preaches a text; the preacher expects to transform; the preacher is Christocentric; the preacher makes God’s offer “for you!”; the preacher preaches the paradox of the Cross; the preacher engages head and heart; the preacher preaches in a way that it relevant.
