Overview of the Mentoring Program

We are thankful for the faithful efforts of the director (Professor emeritus John Brenner), the mentor leadership team (seven pastors), and all of the pastors (62 pastors) who currently serve as mentors for the pastors ordained and called into ministry these past three years. Click here for a description of the three years of mentoring and a prayer for the Lord’s blessings.

Year one of mentoring:  The primary goal is for the mentor and mentee to get to know each other. They connect throughout the year to discuss the establishment of good habits and to discuss questions that arise.

Year two of mentoring: The mentee and mentor discuss growth goals and the implementation of those goals.

Year three of mentoring: The mentee seeks the development of a broader network of support and evaluates and plans for future growth in consultation with his mentor, who will continue to be his colleague and friend.

Prayer: Dear Father in heaven, the young pastors who serve among us are gifts from our Risen and Ascended Savior at your right hand. Continue to pour out your Holy Spirit on them. Give them courage, wisdom, love, joy, peace—and all that they need—to serve as faithful Shepherds under Christ. Make our mentoring program a blessing to our pastors and the people they serve; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
