Technology News

To say there have been big changes to technology at WLS over the last few years would probably be an understatement. With change comes some good, like access to more information; but also some bad, like frustration with understanding how to use the technology.

Since WLS has begun using Microsoft 365, students and pastors have the ease of single sign-on and access to many courses and library resources.

Like other institutions of higher learning, pastors wanting to take continuing education courses need to request a student account through WLS, if they don’t already have an @‌wls.edu account. This account is a Microsoft 365 account and costs $20 per year. This technology fee provides access to course registration, library resources, and more.

Single sign-on can cause confusion between your @‌wls.edu account and your @‌wel.net account (or your church account). Make sure to always be using your @‌wls.edu account when trying to access continuing education courses and library resources through WLS. It may be beneficial to use separate browsers to help you distinguish between the accounts.

Also, if there’s a “Sign in Microsoft 365” or “Log in with Single Sign On,” option (e.g., on SemNet) always select that button, and do not try to log in with username and password.

Microsoft requires use of multi-factor authentication, and unfortunately our pastors have experienced various issues with this process.

Many helpful tutorials and documents have been drafted by our IT department. Check out what’s available here.
