Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary will host an organ recital by Benjamin Foster, a senior at Martin Luther College, on Sunday, April 19 at 3:00 p.m. in the seminary chapel. Titled “His Praise Forthtell: A Musical Journey through the Church Year,” the program explores the rich musical character of the Church’s seasons through a thoughtfully curated selection of organ works. Admission is free; seating is limited to the first 200 attendees. A freewill offering will be received following the recital.
Reflecting on the program, Foster writes: “The seasons of the church year, much like the seasons of the calendar, carry distinct moods and associations. The hymns and music of each season serve to illuminate and deepen its message.” The recital will last just under one hour.
A native of Grand Ledge, Michigan, Benjamin Foster has studied the organ since the age of twelve and continues to develop his musicianship through both performance and service in the church. He has appeared in numerous recitals and festival services and was awarded second place in the 2024 National Undergraduate Organ Competition in Ottumwa, Iowa. Foster currently resides in Milwaukee, where he serves as an intern at St. John’s Lutheran Church (68th Street). He and his wife, Grace, were married in June 2025 and reside in New Ulm, Minnesota, when he is not in Milwaukee. Both are candidates for assignment into the public ministry this May.
Foster’s principal teachers include Craig Hirschmann (Martin Luther College), Thomas Bara (formerly of Interlochen Arts Academy), and Darlene Greenman-Ross of Lansing, Michigan.
