Description: Reading James 3:13–18 James raises the question, “Who is wise and understanding among you?” We have an itch to raise our hands in the affirmative! Instead, James convicts us. “Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.” Good life… Humble deeds… Wisdom…. This is a tall order. Our flesh is utterly incapable of such service. The solution? The wisdom that comes from heaven, the love of Christ that works in us deeds that are pure, peace-loving, considerate, submissive, etc. The love of Christ illuminates our lives so that we shine forth in humble service to all.
