This proverb uses a monarchial/military setting to illustrate what Jesus was talking about in Luke 14:7-11. This section urges humility for the sake of oneself. There is a gentle concept of humble faith here, too: Be humble toward God lest you be deprived of honor. That isn’t the main point of the reading, however.
