In September, Prof. Sorum traveled to Africa with Pastor Peter Bur, coordinator for South Sudanese ministry, to serve refugees. While there, they taught Luther’s Small Catechism to pastors, using this simplified version, which Pastor Bur translated into Nuer. “The South Sudanese spiritual leaders are tremendously grateful for this instruction,” says Prof. Sorum. “Most of them have not had the blessing of formalized training.”

Sorum is the director of the seminary’s Pastoral Studies Institute and Bur is a 2015 PSI graduate.
