Lutheran Heritage Tour – Save the Date

Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary professors Aaron Christie and Joel Otto will be leading a Lutheran Heritage Tour from May 31 – June 14, 2024. Professor Christie, who teaches worship and directs the Seminary Chorus, has traveled extensively, studied, and led tours in Germany. Professor Otto teaches church history, including the Reformation era.

The tour will provide the context for the Lutheran Reformation by visiting Trier, the oldest city in Germany, as well as several cathedrals constructed during the Middle Ages. Luther’s life will be explored by visiting Eisleben, Erfurt, Coburg, Wittenburg, and Eisenach. The heritage of Lutheranism will be emphasized through stops in Nuremberg, Dresden, and Leipzig. A highlight will be attending a concert of J.S. Bach’s St. Matthew’s Passion at St. Thomas, Bach’s church in Leipzig.

The cost of the trip will be approximately $5,000 (includes airfare, accommodations, transportation, entry fees, and breakfast). Pastors desiring to earn STM credits may receive three credits by going on the tour. For more information, contact Prof. Christie (aaron.christie@wisluthsem.org) or Prof. Otto (joel.otto@wisluthsem.org).
