1520: The Reformation Blossoms

Instructor: Souksamay Phetsanghane

Description:
2017 rightly generated a renewed interest in the Reformation. However 1517 laid just the roots of the Reformation. As the Holy Spirit led Martin Luther deeper into Scripture, those roots began to grow. In 1520 Luther published an amazing number of theological works. From these works, the Reformation blossomed, transforming it from an idea into a reality. This course will focus on these specific works:
• Fourteen Consolations
• Good Works
• To the Christian Nobility
• Babylonian Captivity
• Christian Freedom.

The major goals of this course are threefold:
• Become more familiar with Luther’s many writings from this pivotal year.
• Appreciate and understand the timeless truths in those writings.
• Become better enabled to teach those truths to 21st century believers.

To that end, the final project will be to write a Bible study series for use in one’s home congregation.

During Summer Online 2024, this course will run 8 weeks (June 3 - July 26).
