Missiology in Acts

Instructor: Sam Degner

Description:
The Acts of the Apostles recounts the history of the first mission work of the NT church as the gospel began its spread from Jerusalem toward the ends of the earth. Culture clashes, persecution, contexualization, and apologetics were all part of the story then—as they are now. The world into which the apostles were sent had some striking similarities to the world in which we carry out Christ’s mission today. In this isagogical/exegetical course, pastors will benefit from examining selected passages through the lens of missiology and applying lessons learned to their work as evangelists.

All participants will:

1. Review the history of missions presented in the book of Acts
2. Examine selected passages for missiological concepts and applications
3. Produce an outline for a mission-focused sermon or Bible study series
4. Strengthen their ability to work with NT Greek
5. Grow in their appreciation for the Spirit’s work through the gospel
