The Doctrine of the Word
Instructor: Aaron Jensen
Description:
“The Word they still shall let remain, nor any thanks have for it.” In the past 75 years, many different church bodies, including Lutheran ones, have experienced struggles over the doctrine of the Word, and such struggles continue today. In this class we will first take an exegetical look at foundational passages for this doctrine. We will then examine significant movements, ideas, and errors regarding inspiration and inerrancy, especially those which have affected Lutheran synods. By growing in our understanding of the doctrine of the Word—and the past and present threats to it—we will be better equipped to defend and proclaim that Word.
