“In this world you will have trouble.” The pastor lives and ministers in a world of death, mourning, crying, and pain. He tends to souls engaged in the ongoing battle with the flesh, brittle from the bruising troubles of this life, and under a heavy barrage of the devil’s attacks. “But take heart! I have overcome the world.” The pastor also lives and ministers with the Savior’s message of victory, peace, and life. He counsels troubled souls and cares for hurting hearts with the Word of Truth. This course will examine the emphases and strengths of Lutheran pastoral counseling. It will apply Scripture with clarity and compassion to pressing troubles in the flock and put pastoral counseling skills into practice.

Course registration will be available in the Student Information System (SIS) beginning August 4, 2025, and close September 29, 2025. Registration for courses is now done through our Student Information System (SIS). The default is to audit the course. If you want to take the course for credit, once you reach the "cart," you should see an option to add a fee for $100 (the additional cost to take the course credit).

If you do not currently have an "@wls.edu" email address, please complete a request form for a student account. This account provides a Microsoft 365 license for single sign-on use to access Grow in Grace's student information system, SemNet, and AtlaSerials PLUS. The account is now required for those interested in taking courses for credit or audit.

WLS has been granted accreditation with ATS; therefore, the email domain has been changed from firstname.lastname@wisluthsem.org to firstname.lastname@wls.edu. Please use the new email domain to log in to Microsoft 365 and access WLS-related websites (e.g., Library Resources, SIS, SemNet).
