Professor Tackmier has taught Old Testament and homiletics at the seminary since 2010. Before coming to the seminary, he served as a parish pastor for twenty years in Michigan and California. Most of his parish years were spent at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Citrus Heights, CA, where he focused on worship and outreach. In addition to a BA from Northwestern College and an MDiv from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, he has a PhD in Biblical Studies from Concordia Seminary. His dissertation was on what the Psalms have to say about life after death. He is interested in all areas of theology, especially Bible interpretation, and enjoys increasing his knowledge of the biblical languages. His wife Dorcas works in the seminary library. They have two adult children and two grandchildren. In his free time, he enjoys reading, spending time in God’s creation, and working out.
